Hi all,
Has been a very long time since I've written anything here, and an even longer time since I've written anything of substance.
2 main things to say at this time. Firstly, I'm about to turn into a terrible hack for the next 3 days due to student union elections. My time as JCR President at Hugh's is almost up, but the people I've met and befriended are looking to go onto bigger and perhaps better things, so I'm doing my part to help them out. In a way, student politics are quite fun, especially knowing that in the grand scheme of things it's not particularly effective at getting things done.
I don't know how many of you have ever gotten involved in your SU, but yeah it's an enjoyable if sometimes tedious activity. Certainly better than doing nothing at all I think.
Anyway the second things is that whilst term ends in 2 weeks for me, I'll be hanging round Oxford to work at the interviews for applicants for places next year. Hopefully I'll have quite a bit of free time so if anyone wants to come and visit and see what this place is like, they certainly can. Though I can't promise you much in the way of partying or anything like that, especially as there'll not really be many people here.
But yeah that option is there if anyone wants to come see me and what used to be MY college. By then it will simply be my college.
Right, well, that's enough for now I think. Got work to be doing, and lots of it. Bye!

I do not have internet. I have a hole in the wall where I should have internet. I have been told someone will fix it but they haven't for 4 days. I am most displeased.
In other news, now we are watching star wars and drinking, which is good :D

So here's how it lies at the moment...
I just had my haircut, first time at a new place, they are quite good, possibly will go back (in 12 weeks...). I can mess it up and it looks fine.
My short to mid-term memory is atrocious... I will make a conscious effort to improve it over the next term, if I can find the time... It has literally been 10 minutes since I was in the car with about 6 ideas for a post, and now I have 2... Really just one and a half, since this one went tits up...
Recently I got past the first damn stage of the boss of Prime 2: Echoes. That god damn Emperor is a hard nut to crack, but given like an extra 2 hours I will go and find more ammo so it'll be fine... SO tough, like, as hard as a NES game I swear.
( ALSO )
I would like to wish anyone at university a great term, anyone going back soon a safe trip in addition to a great term, and anyone who is seeking (or has found) long term employment, the best of luck, and a fun time! I myself am heading back 'up north' to Oxford on Sunday, and will be loving it, and bumping it (a joke none will get, no doubt).
So, with this totally incomplete post, I grant you all an un-named nor well-explained power up, and tell you get hunting the mini-bosses.

Well this morning I was really happy with my collection result that I had... But now I'm slightly less happy.
I was like "wow, 72" when I got my pure back, since last time I got like 54... And it was a first and all was good. Then after letures I got my applied one back, and since I got 82 last time, I thought I ought to be ok... But alas, a lowly 66. Even got beaten by Mark :(
So my average has increased by 1, but it's still 1 short of a first... So annoying. Anyway just had first tute of term, and this week is going ok so far... Hopefully it stays good and relaxing but I totally doubt it... Oh man... I can just see the work about to pile up...

| Day 2, Monday of 5th week |
[13 Feb 2007|10:16pm] |
So, what did I do yesterday? I don't even remember... Let's see...
Ok, well, I got up at like 10:15 to go to lectures, and then I sat through lectures. Learned some stuff about differentiation that I knew, but can now prove (in theory). Also covered surface integrals, which may or may not be helpful ever. Probably in fluid dynamics, or so I have been led to believe.
Then, in the afternoon, I think that I just did some algebra, handed in my applied work for the week, and then chatted to Mark and Gao for a while. Also helped Gao choose her pieces for her prize competition thingy that she did tonight... Then, um, I don't even know, probably played a bit of Rome again.
In conclusion, yesterday was fairly dull. *sigh* Today has been on a par really, maybe a bit better, I dunno. I'll tell you all tomorrow.

| Day 1, Sunday of 5th week. |
[12 Feb 2007|01:59pm] |
So I got up at about noon, and went to brunch in hall. Nobody else was there, and I had all my work to do, so I ate quite quickly and came back to my room. I spent the majority of the early afternoon doing the rest of my Fourier series sheet, which was fine, and then I started on my Partial Differential Equations. That too was ok, except I mucked up Q2, so I'm re-doing it as I type. I started on Probability too, but then realised I needed more notes, cos I'd missed the last lecture due to snow. So I basically stopped, to wait for Mark to get notes from Ellen and make me a copy.
In that time I played some Rome:TW, a bit of campaign and, then after Lance had eaten, we played some LAN games too. We are fairly lame, I'd say. It's amusing though.
Anyway, we stopped that at about 11:30, by which time Mark had brought me some notes, and then I attempted the rest of probability, even though I didn't understand it very well. It's done now though, and I'll go hand it in soon, hopefully without getting it all wet.
Then I spoke to my brother a little bit about stuff, and everything is fine, so that's cool.
No post yesterday, what with it being Sunday. But I need to return my Postal Vote form.
Ok, well, that was my day, with snippets of stuff today. Until tomorrow, avid readers.
(PS listen to Steven Walsh on his radio show, I'm trying to)

Well, this place seems kinda deserted at the moment, which is a bit of a shame.
So, to combat this, I will attempt to write a dull post depicting what I've done the day before, for the rest of 5th week.
I'll start now with summing up the previous few weeks... I've done lots of work, done some drinking, and most regular university things. Saw Harriet and Kat and Andy last weekend, which was fun. Went to get some ice cream and go on a tour of various colleges and stuff. Yesterday I was really lame and did some LAN total war. It was ok, although I feel my time would've been better spent doing some partial differential equations.
Future plans include the Union Ball next saturday, which will be awesome, I am sure. Also, when the physicists stop having labs on friday (ie; 7th and 8th week), we can go out on thursdays more, and that'll be well good, cos that's the most convenient night for me... We need to go to Sabotage at one point, for srs. It sounds well awesome. If anyone comes to visit one weekend, I'll have to take you to the zodiac, cos it is OMGSOGOOD. Like, you should clearly be able to tell that I'm not a big clubbing person, but, the Zodiac... whoah...
Anyway, Tomorrow, you can read about what I did today. Isn't that super exciting??

[14 Jan 2007|01:16am] |
Ok, so firstly I wanna say congratulation to my father for... A) making it to 50 years old, good work on that, and B) being married for half you life. Yes, my parents celebrated their 25th anniversary about a month ago now, so well done to them too!
Collections were lame, yet also fun. Applied was SOOOOO much harder than I expected, but I guess I could've passed with second class honours. Everyone was pissed off at me for leaving 15 mins early. Last night we played Wii until 3am, in the bar, which was well good. Basically Nintendo >> Sony
(>> means much greater than, for all you non maths folk)
I miss uni, even though I've been home for only *check* 11 hours. It's good to have GC though...
Josh (b), I had you assigned as my target for secret tick 1000 attack, you are well lucky you didn't get owned. By me!:p
Anyway, UM>>>>>>>>>>>>
I bet this ends up on facebook somehow... And I know how, bloody RSS Gotta go wake Luke up from my bed
BYE ALL!!!

1000 games!!
I am exceedingly sad. In the lame way. I've played one thousand games of freecell on my laptop, and considering I stopped at 550 and didn't play till halfway through uni, that shows some serious commitment. I've also won 927 of them, which is far better than you all could do, unless there are some freecell addicts out there that haven't told me.
Christmas time has been fairly normal, chocolate, turkey and mince pies, you all know the drill. I've become really lazy again, and next term will be a shock, I'm sure. I need to find out what's going on at the start, exactly, cos the first Saturday I'm back is my dad's 50th birthday, and I need to know if I can be home. So I should probably email my tutor soonish.
I don't know how but my bedroom is a right mess :( I've not even done anything in it, but like, so messy... Whatever, I'll pack it all up soon.

[15 Dec 2006|06:50pm] |
So I've been home just about 30 hours. Downloaded Maple 10, and 3_01 to 3_06 of LOST, watched the first 3, played some PES and FFVII, done FE, visited my nan, cooked two meals, chatted to my brother, slept a lot, began unpacking, and had a shower. Not necessarily in that order.
One thing I really enjoy about being at home is that there is some good bass in my speakers, compared with my laptop, so music sounds so different. Another is that I don't have to do any work. I actually have a lot of work to do, since I effectively wasted my two extra weeks at college, in terms of maths. Although I did get a couple of new books out the library.
My parents get home from Oman tonight, where they've been celebrating their silver wedding anniversary. Good for them. I can't tell you what I'm buying them for Xmas, since they now read my LJ, cos they miss me and want to know what I'm up to, even though I rarely update. I kinda need to talk to them tonight, but I also kinda wanna go out and see some people.
So on that note, does anyone wanna go to a pub or something tonight for a chat and a drink or two... Bear in mind I don't have my car, but I do have a new found love of cycling, so, I might cycle somewhere.
In addition to lots of maths, I have been given a training regime for rowing, for this winter, which means I need to get out on my bike a lot since I don't have an erg at home, tragically. Does anyone know a cycle route which takes about an hour, that is mostly flat, and may or may not have a few good pubs along it?
Welcome back everybody!

| Why? |
[11 Dec 2006|12:39am] |
So, I decided I'm getting up at 6am tomorrow, going to erg for half an hour, then get ready to work.
Also, David Freeborn has applied at my college and is around for interview... fortunately, he applied for physics and psychology, and they've not admitted anyone for that for years, so he might not get in... It'd be well weird if he did.
So yeh, I need to fucking sleep, goodnight!
Edit: In retrospect, that was a bad idea...

[30 Nov 2006|12:42am] |
So today something REALLY interesting happened... I exploded some chilli in the microwave... I didn't mean to, it just happened.
Anyway, interesting stuff out of the way, I'm pretty much done for work for the term... except the tonnes of stuff for vac... So tomorrow night I can go get really drunk or something, then sober up for my tute on friday, then go to the Snow Ball, then help out with interviews and do some vac work and just generally doss about :)
Steph is coming to stay, and Luke said he might too, but I dunno if/when he wants to, so... it's up to him...
Ok, well, I'm gonna update my facebook now too with something my dad sent me earlier... And mebbe update my info...

|
[26 Nov 2006|11:30pm] |
So, the other night, after Xmas formal, it seems I got "blammed". I don't know what this means, so I'm gonna UD it now...
Ok, so none of those definitions are satisfactory... but if I recall from last night, it has something to do with tilting of the head and making out with...
Anyway, yes, I found a nice pipe-clearner BLAM in my pidge, but I have no idea who it came from. Oh well. It's something I need to investigate...
Last night was also ChChCurry, which was oh so much fun, once it actually got going... The SHBC website said meet at 6 at the lodge, but there was no-one there... So we went to the college bar and had a pint, and then everyone walked past and was going to the pub, so we went along with them and drank a lot more. Then we went to Jamal's, where everything was a little crazy, with the drinking and the pennying and such. I got pennied on several glasses of Strongbow, and also on a wineglass filled with vodka and cola bottles. Which was strangely solid, but quite tasty... But probably cos I was already drunk.
Ajay had his curry pennied, poor guy. Hayden also downed a jug of water... sorry for the sideways-ness, it's not my video
I also made a speech, for some reason, since everyone was chanting for me to do it...
Then afterwards, came back to the bop, where I was sober enough to actually play pool, and then everyone went off, so I came back to charge my phone, and then went to bed instead. Oh well.
Only 3 problem sheets left this term, OH YEAH!!!

[20 Nov 2006|11:57pm] |
So I just finished bullshitting my way through this UBS application, for their sponsorship scheme. It's pretty dumb, but I managed to make an interesting story of this 2v2 football match me and Matt Gordon played one time...
Also, ChChR is soon, and apparently people are spreading the rumour that they expect a Hugh's A vs Hugh's B final for the men... Which I think is stupid... we clearly aren't that good... although there's no reason our A boat can't win it. Besides, if we win our first race against Univ C (hate those bastards), then we'll have to race St Anne's A, and they're really good... :( Plus I'm rowing stroke now, and that can only go badly... But what the hey, it'll be fun! At least we'll have a proper boat this time round... the other day two of the men's boats were broken, and we'd lent Sam James to Anne's, so we had to row in the Women's second boat, which was shitty cos we couldn't get our feet in the shoes, so we rowed like shite.
Anyway, I really need to do loads of work if I have my pasta party tomorrow or whatever... So much to do... Can't be assed... Can't wait for interview time when I don't have to do so much... It'll rock. Plus, free food :D
Um, what else to report to y'all...? Oh yeah I need to reclaim all my anime that I've lent out... Mainly to Luke/AJ/Spring... Although AJ might not have any anymore... Otherwise, I dunno... I might be turning psychopathic, but more on that when I'm really sure...

[17 Nov 2006|10:02am] |
I am very wet.
On the way back from rowing it started to hail, like seriously bad... If we hadn't kinda broken Dom'N'VIII then we'd've been on the river in that, and that's not fun. I think Harriet might've been out in it actually, poor girl *hug*
I kinda wish I knew more people doing maths at other universities... Because I can't say I know any at all... And I need to compare with what they're doing, and also ask for help from a different perspective... So if any of you have any cool maths friends, let me know or something :P
Otherwise, not much to report I guess :) And that can only be a good thing.

[11 Nov 2006|07:54pm] |
Hmm, so once again it seems that I don't update very much. This'll probably end up being the only post in a fortnight again... I dunno.
So what have I been doing? Working, for one thing. They aren't kidding when they say we work harder than anyone else. Unless of course, it just seems that way cos I'm still lazy/stupid and leave all the work as late as I can. I mean I meant to do at least 2 hours today, and have done none, simply because I didn't feel like it. This means that tomorrow, after I get up really late cos I've been tired recently, I will have to do loads of work. I also plan to get up really early on monday (6am) to do some washing, and guarantee that I don't waste 2 hours waiting for a machine... So yeah, I could be sleepy for a while. But, only 3 weeks left now (+2 for interviews). So I can have a nice rest and whatever.
As you may have gathered, I will be staying on for interviewing the applicants this year. So if anyone wants to visit me in this time, it'd be very nice of you. I'm pretty sure I can hook you up for free food :D I'll get you guys some dates next week if you're interested...
Rowing is good, although we may only have one more outing before Christ Church now, since next saturday there is another regatta on, and we can't row. We don't even have a full crew technically, so hopefully Chris or Hassan will want to do it. Today was funny cos one of our lecturers (and also Georgina's tutor) was out in a single on his own, and he sorta got blown into the bank, and was all "OMG DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH MY BOAT", so we ended up slowly manouvering around him, and thus getting blown into the bank too... So he and his coach started swearing at our cox/us, and Alex, being the guy he is, got well angry and started shouting at this guy. It was funny cos Alex was clearly in the right. Anyway, rowing totally drains your energy... It gets so hard to complete full strokes after a while, cos you just don't want to compress your quads to explode again...
Um, what else to talk about? Crew date with Hilda's last night was fun, except we got soaked walking down. Either way, made two new friends, which is cool. Tonight is cocktails up in the Mordan Hall, which will also be awesome I hope.
I may have avoided 5th week blues entirely... Maybe because I am emotionally defunct, I dunno... Either way though, it'll be nice to see you's all again. New year's piss up woot! Except obviously we need a location... I'm not gonna be pulling any strings I don't think, so you guys need to think of something :)
H'okay, (I need to stop thinking like "the end of the world"), I need to get dressed, and you need to probably do some work. So I'll let you get on with it.
